British Airways running 50% off award redemptions, but should you try?

50% of the usual Avios required across all classes for all trips above 2,000 miles, for travel up to 30 Jun 2021 British Airways is now running a promotion, offering 50% off the usual number of Avios required for redemptions across all cabin classes for all trips over 2,000 miles. This is a global offer running from now until 13 Oct 2020. British Airways ran a similar promotion around the same time last year, but only for economy and premium economy cabins. A much smaller discount of 10% was offered for business and first class redemptions. The offer As part of the airline’s Avios redemption sale, you will enjoy 50% off the usual Avios required for any award redemption across all classes: economy, premium economy, business and first class. Note that the offer is only valid for BA-operated flights, codeshare and oneworld services will retain their original number of Avios required for redemption. British Airways devalues Avios for partner awards from 30 May 2019

Expect to burn up to 30% more Avios for your award tickets on non-BA flights, especially on the short routes. British Airways have announced earlier this year that it will be devaluing the Executive Club Avios for partner awards from late May onwards, and you would have seen many sites urging you to make a redemption before that. What makes this so special is, unlike other airlines who typically unveil the new charts at the time of announcement, British Airways didn’t. Instead, the charts were only unveiled on 30 May 2019, the day the changes took effect. The new chart While British Airways does not have an official chart on their website, there have been many sites that have compiled the chart. For ease of reference, I’ve used this one from The Points Guy, who have earlier pieced a new chart and confirmed it with one that a FlyerTalk member have pieced together since the changes went live on 30 May 2019. For ease of reference, I’m only including the Business and First class award …

British Airways unveils new Business Club Suite and it comes with a door

British Airways is the latest airline to jump on the new seat bandwagon, revealing a brand new business class seat and layout for the new A350s that it will receive later this year. Direct-aisle access, flat beds, more storage, larger in-flight entertainment screens are some of the improvements BA mentioned that the new suite will offer, but the biggest win for this new product is a suite door which can be closed for more privacy, similar to Qatar’s Qsuite. The new A350 will offer 56 of these Club Suites, along with 56 premium economy seats – World Traveller Plus – as well as 219 economy class World Traveller seats for a total of 331 seats. The seat The new seat is a customised version of Collins Aerospace ‘Elements’ Business Class seat, which can be found on some other airlines including China Airlines and Virgin Australia. However, BA has gone a step further and is the first airline to install the privacy door, effectively calling it a suite. In a reverse herringbone layout, the seat faces …
