BOC Elite World MasterCard revised terms & conditions

The good ol’ days are over. Bank of China is now tightening what used to be a quick and easy way to earn miles. So back in July 2018, Bank of China created an uproar in the miles chasing community in Singapore with what was possibly the best miles card ever launched in Singapore. Of course, if you were one of those like me and applied for the card, you would have experienced the very rudimentary application process (read: paper and pen, coupled with snail mail), the incredibly long wait for the card to turn up before enjoying the absurdly good miles earning ratio. As with many new programmes, all good things must come to an end. As MileLion have explained in a few articles, Bank of China has slowly, but surely, introduced changes to tighten the ways they dish out miles. The latest set of terms and conditions was strangely postdated 15 March 2019, and is probably a sign of things to come. So what have changed since the launch? (1) Definition of local …

UOB raises fee to 2.1% for PRVI Pay

If you are into accumulating miles through your credit card spending in Singapore, chances are you will hold the UOB PRVI MasterCard (or Visa, or it’s more affluent counterpart – Amex). While the earn rate is now somewhat on the average side with newer entrants such as the BOC Elite Miles card, one of the most powerful function of this card is the ability to buy miles on demand through PRVI Pay. What is PRVI Pay? Launched in 2017, PRVI Pay is essentially a cash advance facility offered by UOB with a 2% fee for a one-time drawdown (which means you need to pay back at the end of your billing cycle), or a 2.2% fee if you want to break the about into a 3-month instalment. As with any other unsecured loan, you do not actually need to show that you actually need the money and it is credited into your bank account directly. The cash advance also earns you an effective rate of 1 mile per dollar drawn through PRVI Pay, awarded in …

Earn miles for as low as 0.8 cent per mile with Citibank PayAll

Citibank has unveiled Citibank PayAll this week, an option for you to pay large peer-to-peer expenses such as rent and tuition fees from your credit card, allowing you to earn miles or points from the payments.  There is a service fee for each payment, but you will also earn 1.2 miles per dollar spent on the Citi PremierMiles card. If you hold other Citibank credit cards that earn miles, Other Citibank cards that earn miles include the Citi Prestige and the Citi Ultima Card, earning you 1.3 and 1.6 mile respectively per dollar paid via PayAll. If you do not hold any of the above, you may also earn Citi reward points if you use the facility off the following cards: Citi Classic Citi Clear Platinum Citi Gold Citi Platinum Citi Rewards For the cards above, you will earn 1 reward point per dollar spent. This is not great, considering you can convert these points to 0.4 mile per point. The service fee ranges from S$24 to S$120, depending on how much you are paying …

UOB PRVI Amex Card offers double miles on overseas spend until 31 December 2018

UOB is now offering a double miles promotion on all overseas spend for its PRVI American Express card from 11 November 2018 through 31 December 2018. Instead of the usual 2.4 miles per dollar spent overseas, cardmembers will earn up to 4.8 miles on qualifying spend including overseas shopping, dining, accommodation and even online spend. There is a minimum spend of S$1,000 of qualifying spend you need to make on the card (that new iPhone you buy in Hong Kong will count, but if you buy that iPhone at Changi Airport, it doesn’t count), and the total number of bonus miles you can earn is capped at 3,000 miles (equivalent to UNI$1,500, UOB’s reward programme currency). To earn the bonus miles, you will first have to register for the promotion here. The fine print Sounds like a great promotion? Well here are the terms and conditions to dampen the mood a little: 1. You need to be the first 1,000 card to spend that S$1,000 qualifying spend. I can imagine how disappointed I’ll be if …

Amex offers 4 bonus KrisFlyer miles for every dollar spent on mobile wallets

American Express is the latest card to jump on the mobile payment promotion bandwagon, with an offer launched on 15 August 2018 for Singapore Airlines co-branded credit card holders. For every S$1 spent, Amex will give you 4 bonus miles, on top of the usual mileage. That means PPS Club branded cards can earn up 5.3 miles per dollar, Ascend can earn up to 5.2 miles per dollar and the blue Krisflyer card earns 5.1 miles per dollar. There’s a very big BUT However, the promotion is capped at a grand total of… 1,200 bonus miles. That’s right, that’s a pathetic S$300 spend. Also, foreign spend will not count towards the promotion too. This offer is obviously not as generous as what Citibank did with their insane up to 8 miles per dollar spend, but still a relatively easy way to scoop up some miles if you are already holding the card. How to sign up? Because this promotion is not available on their website, I assume that only those targeted for this promotion (i.e. …
