Covid-19: Airlines and hotels extend elite status for select members

Several airlines frequent flyer and hotel loyalty programmes have announced membership extensions for affected members. Here are the details. LAST UPDATED: 29 April 2020 With Covid-19 entering now heading into its fifth month soon and seeing no signs of easing, global travel has taken a severe beating. Airlines have made drastic cuts to their capacity, while hotels are reporting all-time low occupancy rates. Moreover, China now makes up one of the most significant group of members that any airline or hotel will want, so I will imagine any loyalty programme manager will want to ensure that this group returns to the fold once the crisis is over. Several programmes have announced expiry extensions for their elite members, almost most of them are targeted at members in Greater China. See below for details. REVIEW: Crowne Plaza Singapore Changi Airport, King Suite

An extended long weekend in Singapore usually means that the city will be half empty, with plenty of folks heading out to nearby destinations for the four-day break. Given that I was not planning to jet off, I decided to check out Crowne Plaza Changi Airport for a holiday at home. The hotel Opened in May 2008, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is Changi Airport’s first full service hotel, with direct access to Terminal 3. The hotel first opened with 320 rooms, and a second extension was built in 2016, adding another 243 rooms to the hotel for a total of 563 rooms and suites. Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is owned by OUE Hospitality Trust. The hotel is touted as a five-star hotel, complete with two restaurants, a sports bar, lobby lounge, meeting and banquet facilities. Recreational facilities include an outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness centre, as well as an on-property spa. The hotel also offers a club lounge. In recent years, the hotel has consistently won Skytrax’s best airport hotel award, having won the award five …

IHG launches Double Points Plus More promotion

IHG Rewards Club have launched the Double Points Plus More promotion, for stays between 16 September 2018 and 16 December 2018. All eligible members will earn double points on every stay (starting from the second) up to 15,000 bonus points during the promotion period. IHG Rewards Club members will remember the Accelerate promotion, where you have to complete a set of activities before earning bonus points. It seems like IHG has renamed the promotion to Double Points Plus More this time round, given the similar mechanism. Members are rewarded with bonus points for each activity completed, and upon completion of all activities, select members may also earn a last set of bonus points. The promotion is supposed to be customised for each member. In the Q2 Accelerate promotion, I earned a total of 30,000 points, but this time round I stand to earn up to 49,200 points. Register for your promotion now here.
