Delta withdraws Singapore service from 22 September 2019 after decades of operations

Delta will be terminating its Singapore-Tokyo Narita service from 22 September 2019 onwards, as it rejigs its Asia Pacific network. This is after several decades of operations by Delta, as well as its predecessor, Northwest Airlines. In a media release issued by Delta on the enhancements the airline was making to its Tokyo-Haneda operations, it said: As part of its long-term Asia-Pacific network strategy, Delta will also adjust its network of flights beyond Narita. Effective March 2020, the carrier will suspend its NRT-MNL service and launch new daily ICN-MNL service operated by Delta. Serving Manila through Seoul will offer our customers superior connectivity via our industry-leading trans-Pacific hub in Seoul with our JV partner Korean Air. While Delta will suspend Narita-Singapore service beginning Sept. 22, 2019, Delta customers can continue to reach Singapore – and more than 80 other destinations throughout Asia – through Seoul-Incheon via the airline’s partnership with Korean Air. Delta Airlines, 9 August 2019 What led to this? Delta and its predecessor Northwest Airlines has long used Tokyo-Narita as its Asia Pacific base, as …

Standard Chartered Bank launched the X Card – so what’s the verdict out there?

Miles collectors in Singapore have another reason to celebrate recently – the launch of the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite X Credit Card. Targeted at millenials, it comes with a very attractive sign-up bonus: 100,000 miles. Of course everyone got slightly excited. Who doesn’t want a (almost) free one-way business class ticket to the US? Update (1 Aug 2019): Standard Chartered now puts out on their website that the 100,000 miles offer has been fully taken up, and now new applicants can only enjoy up to 60,000 miles. Because I’m so late in doing this review, here’s what every other travel/airline/miles writer have said about the card so far: Milelion: A 100,000 miles sign up bonus is something few of us thought we’d ever see in Singapore, and for those with upcoming big ticket spending, it’s an absolute no-brainer. I’m sure there’ll be much more to say about the X Card in the days and weeks to come, but in the meantime, be sure to get approved before 31 August if you want to snag the 100,000 miles sign …

The lounge reopens after nine months of upgrading works. Cathay Pacific has reopened its lounge at Shanghai Pudong International Airport earlier this week (18 July), offering an upgraded lounge experience for its customers. Opened from 0530H to 2100H, it primarily caters to the Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flights, although eligible frequent flyer members of other oneworld carriers may also use it. The new Shanghai Pudong Cathay Pacific Lounge will be another reason for customers to arrive early, rest and recharge in the welcoming atmosphere of comfort and wellbeing before their flight. Cathay Pacific press release What can you expect out of the new lounge? The marketing photos honestly look amazing, and one should expect no less from a Cathay Pacific lounge. This is what you can expect from the …

Changi Lounge now accepts Priority Pass & DragonPass

Spend up to three hours at this public area lounge with your Priority Pass or DragonPass Three months after opening, Changi Lounge at Jewel Changi Airport is finally accepting third-party lounge pass programmes for admission. If you are holding a valid Priority Pass or DragonPass membership (which is fairly easy to gain in Singapore as many credit cards offer one), you may use them at Changi Lounge with immediate effect. As this lounge is in the public area, you will be required to show a valid same-day boarding pass to be able to use the lounge. That unfortunately means you can’t just walk in and use the lounge anytime you are in Jewel! For Priority Pass, you will only be able to access the lounge 4 hours before your flight (e.g. if your flight is at 5pm, you can only enter the lounge at 1pm), while for DragonPass, you can access it any time during the same day for a maximum of three hours per visit. Walk-in rates If you unfortunately do not hold any …
