British Airways devalues Avios for partner awards from 30 May 2019

Expect to burn up to 30% more Avios for your award tickets on non-BA flights, especially on the short routes. British Airways have announced earlier this year that it will be devaluing the Executive Club Avios for partner awards from late May onwards, and you would have seen many sites urging you to make a redemption before that. What makes this so special is, unlike other airlines who typically unveil the new charts at the time of announcement, British Airways didn’t. Instead, the charts were only unveiled on 30 May 2019, the day the changes took effect. The new chart While British Airways does not have an official chart on their website, there have been many sites that have compiled the chart. For ease of reference, I’ve used this one from The Points Guy, who have earlier pieced a new chart and confirmed it with one that a FlyerTalk member have pieced together since the changes went live on 30 May 2019. For ease of reference, I’m only including the Business and First class award …

Convert your Grab reward points to Krisflyer miles at 50% discount now

700 Grab points for 160 miles from now until 30 June 2019 Grab is currently running the Grab Singapore Sale now, with an array of offers and discounts between 24 May and 31 July 2019. One promotion is a 50% discount on the number of reward points you need to redeem for Krisflyer miles. Between 1 and 30 June 2019, you can use only 700 Grab reward points to redeem for 160 Krisflyer miles. You can redeem as many miles as you want. Is it worth it? In short: yes. Grab points are usually best used for discount vouchers on Grab rides. Usually, you will need 1,900 points for a $5 voucher, and that gives a 0.26 cents valuation to each Grab point. Krisflyer miles are valued at about 2 cents a piece, so using 1,400 points for 160 miles will mean forgoing $3.68 (worth of Grab credits) for 160 miles, or 2.3 cents a mile. This is higher than what you should be paying for. However, at half price, the cost now goes down …

Citibank introduces more payment categories for PayAll

Now you can also ‘buy’ miles at 1.5 to 2 cents per mile for payments for taxes, condo management fees and utility bills The PayAll service has been an excellent solution in plugging the gap in the miles game and now it has gotten even better with the introduction of more categories. Remember, PayAll can only be accessed through the Citibank mobile app, so be sure to download the app first (from Apple Store or Google Play Store). New categories When PayAll was first introduced earlier this year, Citibank only limited the payments to education and rent payments, although I’m still skeptical as to how they would enforce it. In this recent development, Citibank has now expanded the list of payments to include tax payments to IRAS, condo management fees and electricity bills. Unlike the first rollout of payments for rent and education, there is a fixed list of payees this time round. You will need to specify the MCST that you are paying to, for instance. Recap: Cost per mile Here’s the cost per …
