Singapore Airlines full schedule for April 2020

Only 306 flights operating this month. Singapore Airlines have published their schedule for the month of April, with its previously announced ‘greatly reduced’ capacity. In this month, Singapore Airlines will only take off slightly over 300 times – and that includes a single weekly Silkair service to Chongqing. In this month alone, SIA will only operate to 15 cities in 13 countries, including Los Angeles, Shanghai, Sydney, London, Zurich, Frankfurt and a handful of Southeast Asia capitals. Mandarin Orchard to be rebranded as Hilton Orchard Singapore

Property set to be the largest Hilton in Asia Pacific region OUE Limited and OUE Commercial Reit (OUE C-Reit), owners of Mandarin Orchard Singapore, has announced that it will be rebranding the property into Hilton Singapore Orchard. Located in the heart of Orchard Road right across from Ngee Ann City, Hilton Singapore Orchard will be Hilton’s flagship in Singapore and the largest Hilton hotel in Asia-Pacific. The refurbishment was originally planned for later, but OUE has brought it forward to commence in Q2 this year, given the challenging climate due to Covid-19. The works are scheduled to complete by end 2021, for a 2022 opening. When completed, the hotel will boast of 1,080 rooms, three ballrooms and five restaurants, one of the largest non-IR properties in Singapore. In the meantime, the hotel will still continue to operate under the Mandarin Orchard brand, managed by Meritus Hotels & Resorts. Singapore Airlines cuts 96% of planned capacity as Singapore shuts borders to visitors

All but some essential routes will be axed Following Singapore’s announcement over the weekend to bar all foreign visitors and even restrict long term visitors to come in, Singapore Airlines announced it will be cutting 96% of its scheduled capacity till end-April 2020, along with it, grounding 138 out of 147 aircraft. This comes after Scoot suspended most of its network until late April, grounding 47 out of 49 aircraft. Deeper cuts Singapore Airlines have previously said it will cut its capacity by up to 50% just last week, after drastic measures put in by the Singapore government to place most travellers on 14-day Stay Home Notice (SHN). Qantas to operate its Dreamliners on Singapore-Melbourne services

The service is a downgauge from the daily A380 service, along with 15% capacity reductions across Asia services to Australia Qantas will be operating its newest fleet – the Boeing Dreamliner 787-9s – on the Singapore-Melbourne route from an unspecified time until May. The service is a response to the on-going Covid-19 crisis, which have seen airlines around the world slashing capacity as people think twice about international travel during this period of time. What is changing? The current QF35/36 service between Singapore and Melbourne is operated by an A380, which can carry up to 484 passengers. This will be replaced by the Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 from 30 March up to 24 May, which will carry 236 passengers in three classes. The second daily Melbourne service, operated as QF37/38, operated using an A330, will only be cancelled on selected days in the month of March. Cathay Pacific reducing flights worldwide by 30%, including flights to Singapore

About 3 flights cancelled daily between Singapore and Hong Kong, out of eight With the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (or some call it the Wuhan Virus) all the rage right now, my original plan of visiting China is now bust, so I was looking at alternative destinations, including Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong. This is when I found that it seems like Cathay Pacific is looking at cancelling some flights. Cathay Pacific has since come out to say that it will be slashing 90% of flights to Mainland China, and dropping 30% of its services worldwide given the sluggish demand due to the virus. Cathay Pacific stops selling some flights While Cathay Pacific has not published the cancellations, I was looking through Expertflyer and notice something rather interesting: Cathay Pacific has zerorised some of the inventory to and from Singapore. Cathay Pacific runs up to eight flights between Singapore and Hong Kong most days, including one CX712 that operates via Bangkok.
