Mileslife suspends operations in Singapore

Announcement made last night through the Mileslife app, although not unexpected. Mileslife last night put out a sudden announcement that it was suspending operations in Singapore: ‘Suspended temporarily’ While Mileslife did say it’s a ‘temporary’ suspension and said they are hoping to return by July, it remains to be seen if they can even successfully return to the market. If you have been following their development closely, you will have come across many signs of issues brewing with Mileslife since several months ago. It started with this case of a merchant in China complaining about the non-payment of dues owed, and following that, a spate of ‘temporary suspension’ of partnerships by several airlines including Singapore Airlines and British Airways. There were also reports of Mileslife merchants who had verbally told customers that they were not accepting Mileslife payments anymore, including Crystal Jade group of restaurants. It’s worthwhile to note that while Mileslife has suspended operations in Singapore, from online reports it seems like they are still working well in Hong Kong and China, although the …

LOUNGE REVIEW: SATS Premier Lounge, Changi Airport Terminal 2

On my trip to Kuala Lumpur today, I decided to check out the SATS Premier Lounge in Terminal 2 today as I was travelling with Malaysia Airlines. As a oneworld Sapphire member, I had the use of the lounge when I travel with oneworld airlines so I thought I’d drop in to see what the lounge offered. Changi Airport Terminal 2 has probably the weakest lounge offering out of all the terminals at Changi Airport. While the other terminals had several lounges, Terminal 2 only offers three: the SilverKris lounge is only available for Star Alliance and Singapore Airlines business and first class passengers; the DBS Asia Treasures lounge which is only accessible by DBS Treasures customers; as well as the SATS lounge which effectively served every other airline. Access Being the only other lounge apart from the Singapore Airlines-operated lounge, you will most likely receive access to this lounge if you were flying in business or first class with any of the airlines operating out of Terminal 2, including Malaysia Airlines, Air India and …

FLIGHT REVIEW: Singapore Airlines 777-200 Business Class, Singapore – Beijing

It’s been a while since I last took a Singapore Airlines business class flight, so when the opportunity presents itself for me to make a redemption booking to Beijing, I decided to try to score a seat on the Boeing 777-300ER, as I have not tried the product before. In the first instalment of the permanent Spontaneous Escapes, Singapore Airlines ran a very generous offer: redeeming a business class seat at the price of an economy class redemption. Singapore Airlines operate 4 daily services to Beijing using a mix of aircraft, including the A380 and Boeing 777-300ER. I decided on a Friday evening flight which was operated by the Boeing 777-300ER featuring the 2013 version business class seats. Arriving at Changi Airport terminal 3, I made my way to the business class check-in counters. As I was checking in, the agent informed me that the aircraft has been changed to a Boeing 777-200 due to “operational requirements”, much to my dismay. I then went to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris lounge and drowned myself in champagne …

Earn 4 bonus miles per dollar spent on Scoot with American Express Krisflyer cards

From now until 18 June 2019, earn an extra 4 miles per dollar spent on Scoot, when using the Singapore Airlines branded American Express cards. The bonus miles is on top of the base earn rates (i.e. 1.3 mpd for the PPS branded cards, 1.2 mpd for the Ascend and 1.1 mpd for the blue Krisflyer card), so that means you will earn up to 5.3 miles per dollar spent. The maximum number of bonus miles you can earn is capped at 1,200 miles, i.e. S$300 spend. That’s not a difficult one to hit. There’s also no restrictions on where you need to begin your trip in, so that makes planning really flexible. To qualify for this offer, you must either have received an email from Amex, or log into your Amex app to check if you are served the offer. The offer is limited to the first 10,000 registrations although I have not heard of anyone who was rejected.

FLIGHT REVIEW: Emirates B777-300ER Business Class, Dubai – Singapore

I was back at Dubai International Airport at Terminal 3 barely 20 hours after touching down the night before from London to catch my connecting flight back to Singapore.

Emirates provides four shuttles on the seven-hour hop between Dubai and Singapore each day. Of the four flights, two are A380 services that terminates in Singapore, while the other two are B777-300ERs that operates onwards to Melbourne and Brisbane.
