SilkAir to operate daily services to Cairns from 2 June 2019

After announcing a massive scrapping rationalisation of services which saw many of its destinations transferred to Scoot, SilkAir is certainly springing a surprise here: daily services to Cairns from June to October 2019, the better half of the Northern Summer season. Currently, SilkAir is operating five weekly services to Cairns. The additional services will be on Tuesdays and Sundays, operated with SilkAir’s latest Boeing 737 MAX 8. SilkAir moving 17 services to Scoot ahead of merger

SilkAir has announced that it will transfer 17 destinations to the low-cost subsidiary Scoot progressively, starting from April 2019.  In the same announcement, Scoot will be stopping its Honolulu service, barely a year after the inaugural service. It will also be giving up four other destinations that is currently served by SilkAir and Singapore Airlines. SilkAir to Scoot transfers The destinations SilkAir will be giving up to Scoot, along with the dates that will happen, are below: Country City Date Laos Luang Prabang, Vientiane April 2019 China Changsha, Fuzhou, Kunming, Wuhan May, June 2019 India Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Visakhapatnam May – October 2019 Thailand Chiang Mai October 2019 Malaysia Kota Kinabalu December 2019 Indonesia Balikpapan, Lombok, Makassar, Manado, Semarang, Yogyakarta May – July 2020 SilkAir has earlier this year transferred 6 other services – Hangzhou, Kalibo, Kuching, Langkawi, Palembang and Pekanbaru – to Scoot as well. The November Spontaneous Escapes promotion list is now out! For the penultimate edition of the year, KrisFlyer is offering 30% off the usual mileage required for Economy & Business on SQ to destinations across Asia and Australia only, for travel in December 2018. For SilkAir, the destination list is slightly more generous, with 15 destinations as far as Hiroshima, Japan and Darwin, Australia. Also included in the promotion this month is January travel to USA. If you recall, Singapore Airlines came out to say earlier this month that the premium economy cabin is not selling like hot cakes on the non-stop services to USA, so I guess naturally these will come at a discount too.
